DESCRIPTION

Department Description:

The Carpentry Shop is responsible for a wide variety of maintenance and repairs and works throughout the entire campus. Their primary responsibilities include repairs and maintenance of campus structures, including repairs and maintenance to both interior and exterior of all buildings, including roofs, all masonry repairs including flat work, all ceiling repairs, maintenance of all windows and door systems and much, much more. This shop responds to after-hours emergencies as well as coordinates and completes many in house renovation projects annually.

Job Description:

Under the general direction of a Facility Operations Assistant 2 or higher-level trades, grounds, warehouse, or building management staff, performs a combination of maintenance, grounds, laborer, parking services, custodial duties, and operates motor driven vehicles and equipment.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

Labor Class: There are no education or experience qualifications for this class. Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.

Preferred Qualifications:

General understanding and interest in the carpentry trade

Good communication skills

Basic computer knowledge

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, permanent

position.
