Job Description:
The Facilities Manager will oversee facility maintenance, projects and employee safety programs for a rapidly growing startup company that is manufacturing large and complex medical equipment requiring extensive facilities support. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing large build out projects with various trade contractors, rolling out new Safety policies to the entire company and managing numerous administrative tasks in a dynamic and regulated environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Manage projects to build out new facility spaces to support manufacturing, research and office use, including concrete bunkers required for high energy radiation protection.
Coordination of all facilities-related contractors and trades such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.
Ensure that all facilities equipment is working properly and oversee preventive maintenance schedules to maximize facilities reliability.
Management of facilities vendors such as cleaning service, waste removal, pest control, etc.
Support facilities-related administrative activities such as office moves, furniture procurement, etc.
Responsible for management of security system.
Primary owner of the company Safety Program (minus the radiation safety specialty). Implement appropriate policies, procedures and training for numerous hazards (machine tools, high voltage, hazardous materials, heavy lifting, etc.).
Ensure compliance with local, state and federal requirements (building codes, Fire Code, CalOSHA, EPA, etc.).
Ensure all facilities-related expenses are within budget.
Skill/Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years increasingly responsible facilities experience, with at least two years in facilities management capacity.
Experience in a compliance-oriented and highly regulated environment; FDA Quality System Regulation (QSR) preferred.
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC system and applications.
Familiar with all hand, machine and power tool usage.
Previous experience managing large office building construction projects.
Ability to draw lab/office layouts with Microsoft applications; AutoCAD a plus.
Ability to interpret building drawings and equipment schematics.
Working knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Self-motivated and proactive problem solver.
