Responsible for day-to-day operations of a large CPS retail location with two satellites focused on being the leading agricultural input provider in the market. Responsibilities include the development and expansion of retail sales to customers within a geographic area surrounding the physical location, sales and servicing of designated customers, supervision of the locationâ€™s workforce of up to 20-45 employees during season, and accountability for the locationâ€™s financial objectives. Ensures company policies, guidelines and best practices are strictly followed. Works closely with Division Manager.
Manage day-to-day operations, including inventory levels, receivables, product delivery and sales. Works with Division Manager to set Location objectives. Responsible for meeting location objectives.
Supervise sales staff to assure that sales and margin objectives for the location are met. Provide direction to increase customer base.
Assure locationâ€™s inventory is optimized to meet customersâ€™ requirements, while maintaining appropriate turns and other key financial indicators.
Manage the locationâ€™s workforce: determine and maintain the appropriate staffing levels; manage employee performance; provide a safe work environment; maintain necessary training; resolve work related employee issues.
Assure environmental compliance is maintained at all times. Properly dispose of all unusable product. Assure that all employees are trained to respond to environmental issues.
Covers all sales functions for assigned customer list.
Provide for a clean and secure site.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifiations and Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent; BS in Ag Economics or ag-related courses preferred.
5 years of experience in ag industry; understanding of relative federal and state regulations.
Working knowledge of computers and various software packages used in business applications.
Proven knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the agriculture industry, as well as the application of agricultural chemicals.
Ability to work autonomously with very limited guidance from Company or Division Manager.
Demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate and retain employees.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; good listener.
Ability to understand and manage the locationâ€™s financial objectives.
Willingness and ability to work long hours.
Physical Requirement, including but not limited to:
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs; between 25 â€“ 150 times per day.
Capacity to walk in uneven fields 2-3 miles per day.
General ability to sit, stoop, bend, climb, stand, walk and work on concrete floors for long periods at a time, up to 8-10 hours per day.
