POSITION PURPOSE:
This position coordinates the implementation of various continuous improvement and plant and facilities projects. Responsible for setting scope, technical specifications, budget tracking, schedule, contractor bidding and management and implementation of facility and maintenance projects.
POSITION DUTIES:
Serves as the single point of contact for the project management group and the matrix team for associated project.
Builds and maintains relationship with suppliers associated with the project.
Coordinates with Campus Facility Manager to establish a realistic project schedule and monitors compliance with the defined project objectives and project management processes to ensure the timely completion of project milestones and final delivery.
Ensures that the project status and progress is effectively communicated to the CFM and to the internal customer.
Develops and communicates the project budget commitments ad status.
Approves all project related expenditures as authorized and manages costs to meet budget commitments.
Leads planning and project execution including bids, AFE, purchasing process, vendor performance and accounting asset tracking
Ensures that project risks are identified and managed throughout the entire life cycle of the project.
Consults and establishes working relationships with local and other contractors, vendors and equipment providers.
Recommends equipment and service purchases to improve operating efficiencies and provides justification as required.
Defines and creates technical specifications for a wide variety of projects. Manages and coordinates bid process with contractors and selects best solution based on all information available.

Provides departmental leadership to less experienced team members
Reviews the work of others for accuracy and soundness of judgement.
Provides leadership in achieving continuous improvement, safety, cost, quality and delivery goals.
Responsible for completing projects on budget and schedule. Creates and maintains schedule, scope, and budget Maintenance specific projects.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction/project management related field and/or Business related discipline or equivalent experience.
Seven years minimum diverse experience in one or more of the following areas: Project Management, Facilities Engineering, Preventive Maintenance, tenant improvement, and large scale construction projects. Experience in tenant improvement and large scale project management preferred.
Ability to write technical project specifications, organize a competitive bid process, coordinate all aspects of effective project execution, and ensure proper project closure.
Working knowledge of equipment maintenance, fabrication, and construction techniques are preferred.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with hands on experience developing, implementing, and improving lean project management.
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, Kaizen and 5S processes.
Ability to schedule work and determine priorities based on business needs.
Ability to work independently under general guidance and or with self-initiative.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
PC skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, project, and report creation software.
Project leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Ability to anticipate potential problems and takes preventative mitigating action.
Ability to identify various approaches to achieve a desired outcome
Ability to resolve more complex issues with little or no supervisory assistance
Comfortable collaborating with a higher level of management
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works with all levels of employees, with multiple and changing priorities and deadlines. Some exposure to high noise levels, chemicals and acids. Spends at least 50% of the time in an office environment and 50% of time in a shop environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Uses most senses. Sitting, standing, walking, climbing and bending, with minimal lifting, daily. Works extensively (daily) on a computer. Fast paced atmosphere with multiple priorities and constant change. Some travel due to role.
