U-Haul is looking for a proficient maintenance mechanic to perform a variety of maintenance functions necessary for the upkeep of the U-Haul Assembly Plant building, machinery, fixtures, and tooling.\u00a0 Primary functions include: Perform preventive maintenance inspections.\u00a0 Repair or replace damaged parts, as necessary.\u00a0 Recommend action to be taken for tools that are obsolete or that cannot be repaired. Make final inspection of power tools that were repaired.\u00a0 Recommend action to be taken on major repairs.\u00a0 Perform assigned general maintenance duties required to maintain and repair buildings, structures, and equipment, involving skill in carpentry, plumbing, painting and the electrical and mechanical trades. Perform basic electrical work on equipment and machinery by replacing faulty switches, plugs, fuses, breakers, insulators and other elements of fixtures and equipment. Ideal candidates must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record. Since 1945, U-Haul has been serving do-it-yourself movers and their households. Like many other successful ventures, the concept for U-Haul was generated out of need. After World War II, there existed the widespread need for do-it-yourself moving equipment that would be available on a one-way, nationwide basis. U-Haul co-founders L.S. "Sam" Shoen and his wife, Anna Mary Carty Shoen, recognized that need and acted upon it. Their visionary approach spread the cost of ownership among many users, facilitating the mobility of the populations of the U.S. and Canada. The covered wagon of the pioneers morphed into orange U-Haul trailers. In the process, an industry was born.
