Central Utilities Manager, Facilities Management and Campus Services','2010030','!*!At **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., Facilities Management and Campus Services (FMCS) defines our core activities through stewardship of university facilities and happiness of our customers. In order to carry out these strategically important activities, we focus on the areas of technological enhancement, process improvement, quality assurance, and teamwork. We are searching for a HVAC Mechanic to join our FMCS team. Under the direction of the Director of Facilities Operations, you will be responsible for all operation, maintenance, and emergency support of the campus steam, chilled water, domestic water, storm water, sanitary sewage and associated infrastructure. You will have full authority for performance of these critical central utility systems including daily operations, preventive maintenance, and customer service. You will manage a team of union personnel working 24X7 including Lead Operating Engineers and Journeymen Skilled Trades. Due to the critical nature of the utility systems, you should be on-site during regular working hours, major projects and emergency response events. Your core responsibilities include:Directing central utility operations to ensure reliable, efficient and cost effective operations of the steam/condensate distribution and chiller plants/chilled water distribution systemsHandling staff, equipment, and facilities for successful 24/7 utility performanceManaging personnel who respond to, execute, and complete customer service requests and other requests for special workEnsuring staff, contractors and vendors abide by program, contractual, and industrial standards/best practices, where required, which meet the requirements of the contractProviding safe work environments for employees, visitors, and customersDeveloping and recommending maintenance project priorities for equipment and operational strategies to improve operating efficiencyIdentifying building mechanical problems impacting utility consumptionEstablishing budgets and control expenses for staff, ongoing maintenance, repairs and projects. Reviews the various fiscal reports for accuracy and handling the budget for adherence to the annual program planWorking with Utilities Analyst to evaluate utility billings and meter data. Recommending methods of cost containment and assists in development and management of the annual utilities operating budget. Setting benchmarks for usage, developing and implementing appropriate conservation measuresReviewing utility systems operations, material conditions, and maintenance practices and provides advice to the appropriate Facilities personnel. Providing recommendations on other steps to develop a sound and efficient utility infrastructure. Providing strong strategic mentorship to the expansion of campus-wide utility systemsProviding input on engineering, design, construction and maintenance services for existing and new infrastructure. Maintaining and revising the various utility standard operating procedures (SOPs), manuals and publicationsResponding promptly by phone or in person as appropriate to emergency situations and therefore be available 24/7 or as required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree – preferably in engineering, business, management or equivalent related field experience desiredTen years of experience in utility infrastructure or facilities maintenance and operations preferredDemonstrated experience handling the operation and maintenance of major infrastructureDemonstrated experience handling effective preventative maintenance programSupervisory experience working with unionized workforceAbility to collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organization regarding a variety of meaningful issues.Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, goals and objectivesPhysical and Mental Requirements:Ability to maintain composure when taking care of difficult situations and/or individualsAbility to work with deadlines, work under pressure and with frequent interruptionsAbility to pay close attention to detail; keep and maintain accurate and detailed reports and recordsAbility to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks at a timeAbility to understand and follow strategic direction from divisional leadershipAble to travel across campus for meetings and utility related work Are you passionate about this dynamic opportunity with us?
