Facilities Maintenance Technician

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks. Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills are essential to the success of this position. The position reports to the Facilities Manager.
Overall Duties and Responsibilities
include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Perform minor electrical maintenance including but not limited to the replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, fuses, minor appliances, etc.) using the appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools
Perform minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.)
Perform minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work including but not limited to: preparing surfaces; using a brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes; fitting door locks and handles
Reconfigure, install, position, and mount office furniture and space to accommodate user needs and maximize office space
Assist in ordering supplies and materials
Perform miscellaneous duties as required
Competencies and Requirements:
2 years working experience in facility maintenance
Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
Ability to use common tools and miscellaneous office equipment
Ability to lift 50 pounds; push 100 pounds
Ability to climb a ladder and step ladder
Ability to bend at the waist, sit, kneel, climb, walk, etc. as the job may require
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Must be customer service oriented
Ability to understand and follow directions as given
Excellent work ethic and attendance track record
Basic computer skills
Noise level which may, at times, require normal hearing protection in the form of ear plugs
Exposure to the following: Electricity
Lubricating fluids, cleaning solvents, batteries, etc.
Paints and solvents
Ability to read and comprehend and explain documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, in English.

Education and/or Experience:
2 years working experience in facility maintenance; basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
