The State of Nebraska's Department of Administrative Services-Building Division is looking to fill a Facility Maintenance Specialist position in Norfolk, NE.
Individuals that are able to work independently and have a good eye for fixing and maintaining facilities are encouraged to apply!
This position includes a full State of Nebraska benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D insurance, retirement, flexible spending accounts, 12 paid vacation days, 12 paid sick days and 12 paid holidays per year.
Hours: 7:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday.
Examples of Work
Perform skilled work on a variety of equipment and projects that could consist of HVAC equipment, including automated comfort control system; plumbing fixtures; carpentry projects; low voltage electrical equipment; pneumatic controls; chemical pumps; cooling tower pumps; bearing replacement and appliances. Review renovation projects for code compliance. Prepare material lists and project estimates for projects at facilities. Work under limited supervision. Complete and assist with work orders directed from Agency clients like our Nebraska State Patrol Troop B.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, HVAC, welding, or other maintenance trade and one year of experience OR three years experience in skilled maintenance, construction or mechanical trades and experience leading/directing others in such work; experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED: Energy management control system experience and Journeyman's license with the state of Nebraska to perform line and low voltage commercial electrical work. OTHER: Must be available for call-back for snow emergencies and planned after hour Life Safety System checks. Must have a valid driver's license. Must pass Nebraska State Patrol background check! Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: various building and mechanical trades; preventative maintenance procedures used in building maintenance operations. Ability to: stand long periods of time, reach overhead to perform tasks, bend, stoop, crawl and climb while performing duties. Able to lift up to 50 pounds above your waist. Ability to use/operate hand and power tools and power equipment in a safe manner; perform manual labor; care for/maintain hand and power tools essential for maintenance and repair work; work in tight spaces and at some distance from the ground. Skill in: the use of a variety of basic hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
