Facilities Maintenance Supervisor','18011737','United States-Illinois-Rockford','','Manufacturing & Operations','Aug 10, 2018','!*!Description:Under general guidance, this position directs and coordinates activities engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines and equipment, and in the maintenance of building grounds and utility systems of the location by utilizing maintenance employees and/or outside services.This position will develop a strategy to support the maximization of production by reducing machine downtime, which will include, a system to review, track, prioritize and schedule job orders; develop preventative maintenance programs; successfully manage budgets within established parameters; suggest changes in the use of equipment to increase efficiencies; and confer with other departments to coordinate activities.This position also plans, organizes and directs the activities of the employees in his/her department(s) and is responsible for the implementation of Human Resource and Industrial Relations policies established by the Human Resources Manager, as well as maintains effective employee morale and provides leadership. The scope of authority within his/her department(s) includes all manufacturing production pieces of equipment and/or preventative, building, and machine maintenance.
Organizational Relationships: Reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager. Must be able to deal effectively with shop floor, managerial, and office employees. May deal with vendors or other individuals outside the organization.
Full implementation of preventative maintenance system and continuous development of proper preventive maintenance procedures for all equipment.Identify, plan and complete capital projects that will result in cost savings, improved operations, increased safety or a combination of these items.Evaluate and recommend vendor proposals for new equipment purchases, design and installation.Identify opportunities for improvement in plant efficiency, repair effectiveness, and maintenance procedures.Maintain all facilities buildings and grounds in a cost effective manner that creates a positive image to the customers and the community.Responsible for a wide range and diverse group of technical activities and projects, including equipment design, automation, modification, purchase, installation and start-ups.Consistently apply and enforce posted company rules, attendance programs, established practices and/or articles of the Labor Agreement (if applicable at the location) as established by the Human Resources Manager. Maintain employee records utilizing the current data collection system which includes, but is not limited to attendance, vacation, absenteeism and balanced overtimeWith the guidance of his/her supervisor, administer and/or make recommendations in his/her department(s) regarding the following areas:Employee performance appraisals and employee wage adjustmentsManpower utilizationEmployee counseling and disciplinary actionEmployee trainingConduct regular safety inspections and incident/accident investigations. Identify safety hazards and making immediate corrections.Educate and train direct reports consistent with equipment, technology, and Occupational Safety, Environmental, and Health requirements.
